Maine Job Hit With Environmental Fine
A Maine forestry company has entered into an agreement with the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry and is paying a fine after logging activities near Bowdoinham created a cleared opening too close to a freshwater wetland and removed too many trees, officials said. In addition to paying a $2,000 fine to resolve the harvesting violation, Southern Maine Forestry Services is also required to prepare a revegetation plan and revegetate a shoreland area where the violations occurred.
