RMS Trades Land With Rayonier, Enters Pacific Northwest Market

Resource Management Service (RMS) has announced that the RMS Evergreen U.S. Forestland Fund has made its first investment in the Pacific Northwest through a strategic land exchange with Rayonier Inc.

Under the agreement, the Fund exchanged approximately 57,000 acres of timberland in Texas and Alabama for approximately 36,000 acres in coastal Washington, including timberland in the iconic Grays River Basin. The transaction reflects the Fund’s disciplined approach to executing its strategic priorities.

“This transaction positions the Evergreen Fund’s portfolio for the future,” says Alex Hinson, President and CEO of RMS. “Expanding the Fund into the Pacific Northwest increases its geographic diversification and strengthens its access to domestic markets in the Lower Columbia River Valley and export markets through the Port of Longview. Together, these advantages enhance the Fund’s ability to create sustainable value for its investors.”

The acquired timberland includes a mix of Douglas-fir and western hemlock, complementing the southern yellow pine that anchors the Fund’s holdings in the U.S. South. The acquisition adds new species, end markets and geographic exposure to the Fund’s portfolio. Both organizations collaborated to ensure the transaction aligned with their respective investment objectives and long-term management strategies.

RMS will maintain the property’s third-party certification under the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI). Consistent with its long-standing stewardship philosophy, RMS will also maintain the property’s existing salmon habitat restoration partnership with the Cowlitz Indian Tribe.
