Weyerhaeuser, Others Make Diaper Donation
Weyerhaeuser recently completed its Operation Diaper Drive with record-breaking results. During the annual drive, which ran from March 4-25, Weyerhaeuser, its customers and vendors donated 1.5 million diapers to families in need!
Rocketing past the goal of this year’s event, 1.3 million, Weyerhaeuser holds Operation Diaper Drive to help ease the burden on families struggling to pay for diapers, which can cost about $1,200 a year. Diapers are one of the most requested items at food banks and shelters.
Weyerhaeuser had 100% participation by employees at Weyerhaeuser mills and offices around North America as well as participation from many logging and trucking contractors.
As just one example, Weyerhaeuser Distribution’s Easton, Pa., distribution center received donations from around its community, including a $400 online gift from Highlander Equipment, which services the location’s fleet, and a $450 donation from customer Builder’s General, along with 2,500 diapers from Ashley’s Restaurant in Easton and discounted diapers and a $100 gift card from the local Target. The distribution center’s on-site carrier Ryder Trucking donated a truck, driver and time—plus 2,000 diapers.
Anne Leyva with Weyerhaeuser says that while the drive has the company’s name attached to it, it’s truly a community event.
